We will be sharing our weekly CSA newsletters here on the blog! We often get questions about what goes into the CSA–we hope this helps!
Hello CSA members!!
Thank you so much for joining us for the Summer 2017 CSA! I’m really excited to be providing you with delicious fruits and veggies all summer. A few reminders about how this program works:
1. It’s self-serve. You have from Wednesday at 5pm to Tuesday at 5pm each week to pick up your share. Shares will be stored in refrigerators at the Farm. Here’s a funny video to orient you to the space. https://youtu.be/9-t_oRBkVU8 Remember–your produce will be fresher the sooner you pick it up.
2. It’s collaborative, many different farms are putting produce in. So we’ll be telling you about all the fabulous farmers who are working to feed you all summer.
3. This is a community effort! Please connect with me and each other to share questions, recipes, etc.
4. Be nice to your produce and store it properly. Here are some great guidelines.
The bag this week includes:
Kale or Chard
Garlic Scapes (Long and curly stalks. Here’s how to use them)
Head Lettuce
Kohlrabi
Carrots
Escarole (looks like lettuce. Recipe suggestions)
Strawberries!!! (To prevent squashing, these will be in their quart containers in the cooler next to the cooler with your bags–don’t forget to grab one).
Vegetable highlight: Kohlrabi
Kohlrabi is a member of the cabbage family. And is high in fiber and vitamin C. It’s a great replacement for chips when looking for something to dip in hummus or salad dressing. Here’s a great blog post about it, including recipes and how to cut it up.
Thank you again for joining us and supporting The Farm!
