Fall at The Farm at St. Joe’s means two things. Another season of planting (and eating) vegetables, and Detroit Tigers Baseball. It was a joy last night to experience such a great game on the radio and to see the sun peek through the rain to provide some bright rainbows. Eat em’ up Tigers! Eat up some kale too!
We’re currently wrapping up late kale plantings and will be direct seeding salad mix, arugula, and more spinach beds in the hoophouses this week. This produce will feed the hospital community throughout the winter months.
Garlic will be planted outside in the coming weeks and will overwinter outdoors. This season we will be planting 100% of our own, Farm at St. Joe’s produced, garlic seed.
We look forward to winter vegetable production, inside the unheated hoophouse, including carrots, beets, radishes, kale, chard, spinach, arugula, and salad mix.
Stop by for a visit and see for yourself.
GO TIGERS! And GO Dan ==> so exciting to hear about your own garlic seed. Our honeybees did some good work there.
Yummmm, kale, garlic, kale and garlic, garlic and kale………Go Tigers, too!
