The farmers’ market at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Ann Arbor will not be held again until mid May. Check the blog and farmers’ market cart for updates in early May.
Spring is here and the time has come to transition the hoophouses at The Farm at St. Joe’s. Summer and fall planted greens have mostly completed their annual life cycle, and will be removed and replaced with heat loving summer crops, including tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants.
Solanaceae seedlings for The Farm at St. Joe’s are currently living happily at Matthaei Bontanic Gardens.
Also: Did you notice The Farm at St. Joe’s salad mix on the cafeteria salad bar last Wednesday? How about the two spinach soups, which showed up in the cafeteria and patient meals, in early March with The Farm’s sweet winter spinach? We are excited to have trialed our greens for National Nutrition Month, and hope to include more of our tasty fresh greens in the hospital in the future.
I’m so excited to hear the food is making it’s way into the cafeteria and patient food. Anything from the St. Joe’s Farm would be my first choice 🙂
